Welcome. This page is produced to help you create your own web site. I have compared many programs and services, the best of which I recommend below. I have a Links page with lots of useful sites. For a series of articles on web page authoring, go to Webmonkey. For a good ISP, with free web space and email, go to Surefish.co.uk If you would like your own domain name, go to Easily were you can see if the name you want is available, and if so buy it. Software Here is a decent free non-WYSIWYG HTML editor. WYSIWYG HTML editors are OK, but you end up changing the HTML. With this one, you enter your code (all the tags are provided), hit the preview tab to check the result. When you think you have it right, it will check your code for you and report any errors. HTML kit from Chami: If you want a WYSIWYG HTML editor, the best free one I can find is Sothink HTML editor. You will need an FTP program. This one does it all, you can edit files on the server, you can even CHMOD your CGI scripts. The best thing is that it is free for non commercial use. WS FTP le from Ipswitch: Stepzilla is very basic, but you can produce an attractive page easily. Web dwarf takes a bit of learning, but you have more control of the layout of your page. If you want to add some flash animation to your site, the easiest and cheapest way is with CoffeeCup fire starter. If you have any comments, then please feel free to email me. |
